The Rebellion: Threat or Joke?
By: Rosetta Flamingo
Six or seven years ago if you so much as whispered the word Rebellion in a crowd, everyone would grow silent and glance over their shoulders with wary eyes. Shout the name in a crowd now and maybe a head or two will turn, but the younger generations will cast a blind eye.
The Rebellion is an illegal organization that formed close to a decade ago. It was originally comprised of harmless humans who somehow escaped the clutches of their captors. Originally people were unconcerned. After all, half a dozen uneducated runaways couldn't cause too much harm. Could they?
Within a years time the Rebellion went from a small group to several dozen. The attacks were constant, but not severe. As the illegal gang grew their attacks became more violent. Money was being stolen from businesses in Reveerie, wealthy captors were being found dead, and slaves were being freed all along the countryside.
Three infamous events are still fresh in the minds of some. The first being the first public appearance of a runaway slave we now know to be Maxwell Damek, leader and possible founder of the Rebellion. The fugitive crashed an elegant party some years back during a ball. Later, a triple homicide was committed. All clues led to the Rebellion. Those killed were the well-known couple of Adena manor as well as Jacques, the one who initiated the Wipe-Out. The third and final event was during one of the last major races at Sattiren Stadium where Maxwell snuck into the announcers booth and caused chaos to break lose.
Yet, despite all we know and all we still have to learn, the Rebellion seems to have gone into hiding. Have they lost their battle to unite Human and Animal kind or are they simply planning for something more? Many authorities believe the Wayward burning may in fact have killed some of the Rebellion off. The exact numbers of members or survivors is unknown.
For now it looks like the Rebellion may be a group of the past. They are quickly flying under the radar and soon about to be lost with history. Which leads us to a final question: Are they a big joke or a true threat?
