Nahimana stood out in the middle of the Post, waiting for Pasha. The sun was just peaking over the horizon. It was so early that there were a few stars lingering in the sky, unwilling to let the sun take over their sky for the day. The air was crisp and chilly, the ground was still wet with dew. Nothing in the camp, besides Nahimana (And hopefully Pasha) was awake. In Nahi's arm was a wicker basket. Today she wanted to collect some berries that were known to bring down fevers. They would certainly be seeing those as the weather became steadily colder. Nahi stood in the middle of the Post, looking around for Pasha. If he wasn't out soon, she'd have to go without him. Her day had been carefully planned out, and she couldn't afford to get behind on the day's duties. Not only didn't she have to gather herbs, she had to be back in the Post by noon to help out. But Nahimana was sure he'd come.
I hope he does, at least. Nahi thought. She rarely had company on expeditions, aside from her mother or father. Most of the people in the Post were too busy to come help her and keep her company.

Pasha awoke with a start, he remember why he had been trying to get up early only after a few incredibly unclear seconds. He hoped to his feet only to realize two things; one that he was not yet late and two that it was cold. He wasn't certain what had prompted him to go to sleep in just some pants and a thick blanket but he had. Perhaps he had just stayed out too late and was ready to sleep when he went to bed. Either way he didn't have time to wonder why he had done what ever it was that the had done last night.
He quickly found a clean shirt and threw it on before gathering up his coat, a hat, and some gloves before heading out. He wasn't certain of the real temperature out there and he did not want to be caught off guard. He left the tent only to realize that he couldn't make out a thing. He quickly turned back and hunted for his glasses. He had been wearing them for what seemed like ages and he still forgot to put them on sometimes. Once he found the small metal things he headed back out into the open air. Quickly he made his way to the center of the camp. He hoped he was not late, from the way Nahi looked about he feared that he was. He gave a yawn and looked up at the sky. It was barely early morning, stars still lingered in the sky even. He gave a little smile recalling the night before. He liked Nahi, he was happy he met her. She seemed like a nice person, like she could be a good friend to him. He needed that right now, he felt rather alone in the camp even though he knew people. He needed a friend right now.
“I hope I am not too late,” Pasha said as he drew closer, “I normally am good at getting up early but I guess I stayed out a little to late last night. Or this is a little too early.” he gave a little sheepish smile and rubbed the back of his neck. “So what are the plans, boss?” he asked. He didn't really know what they were planning on doing today. It didn't really matter to him, he was happy to help, but, by the same token, it was a nice thing to know.

Nahimana had dressed warmly as well. She had on an old hand-made sweater and a jacket, along with her warmest pair of jeans. Most everything she had was hand-made. The jacket and the jeans, however, were the few expections to that rule. Nahimana smiled brightly at Pasha as he approached. She had many friends around the camp. But, again, most were too busy to do much of anything with. One of her friends Lucifer was rarely in the Post at all. Though lately she'd seen more and more of him, and the more she saw of him the sadder he seemed. Strange. Well, putting those thoughts aside...
"Good morning Pasha. You're right on time, actually." Nahi said. She shifted the basket to her other arm and began to walk away from the Post on a predestined path. She knew where she was going, at least. "We're going to a grove to gather a certain kind of berries that can help with fever. I don't have any stocked yet, and I'm sure I'm going to need them with winter coming up so quickly.

Pasha was glad to see that he was not the only one who had dressed warmly. He always felt silly when he wore a full winter garb next to people who did not even have a coat on yet. He gave a little smile when she said he was right on time. That was a relief, it wouldn't be a good impression to show up late to a first meeting. On top of that it was just rude.
As Nahi shifted the basket and began to head out towards the woods Pasha quickly jumped to her side. He was eager to go out, it was nice to actually be helpful around here for a change. She told him that they were going to the grove to pick some berries. He liked the sound of that, it wouldn't be as tricky as digging up a plant with out damaging it. “That sounds like a plan for me,” he smiled.
He followed next he quietly for a little bit. He wasn't sure exactly what to talk about or else he would have spoken up sooner. There was some frost on the ground and upon seeing that he gave a little shiver.

((It won't let me freaking log in!))
Nahi walked in silence for a little while. She wasn't used to having much conversation on these journies. Not since her mother's joints had started to agitate her. So Nahi began to occupy herself by admiring the forest's mysterious beauty. The way the leaves broke the sunlight into sweet patches that left the dew glittering. The way that the rough path curved and winded through the trees. It was luck that she grew up here. Nahimana had run through these trees as a child, laughing and singing. No animals to hinder her. Only her parents scolding tones as they reprimended her for running off. She grew up here, and this was her home. Suddenly remembering Pasha, Nahi jumped slightly and grinned sheepishly at him.
"Sorry...I'm not used to people coming with me when I go out." Nahi apologized.

“It is alright,” Pasha smiled back, he too was unsure of what to talk about. He was not the most out going of men, and he always had to force conversation, at least at first. He was content to talk along in silence for a little while anyway. He needed to shake the sleepy fog from his mind before he did anything.
He must have looked like a zombie, he mussed. He knew he must have a flat and vacant look in his eye despite the wonderful sites around him. He didn't feel any need to pay much attention to the woods around him, he didn't feel any danger here. Besides, he hadn't gotten much sleep last night and that didn't make for very wakeful mornings.
After a little bit he managed to shake the sleep from his mind enough that he could easily function. He found that he was still unsure of what to say though. He had asked about her family and such things the night before. AT least he had asked about her family, maybe not her friends. It was worth asking about again, just in case he hadn't asked.
“I've got a bad memory,” he smiled sheepishly, “So if I've asked this already please excuse me but do you know a lot of people here? I mean, any close friends? Or maybe even enemies?”

"Oh, I have a few I suppose. Most are usually out of the Post, though." She replied, stepping lightly over a fallen pine tree. [color-pink]"Especially Lucifer." Lucifer was a close friend to her. A best bud, you might say. But he was so rarely in camp that Nahi didn't ever get much of a chance to speak to him that often. And it was near impossible trying to keep in touch with him, or any of her friends, when they were away from the Post. It was almost sad, really. Most of her best friends were never around. At least...not regularly. Then there was always the risk that if someone left the Post, they might never come back.
"But no enemies really. At least none that I'm aware of." Nahimana giggled a bit. "Yourself?"

Pasha's heart sank a little when she said she was close friends with Lucifer. He liked the fellow, but he couldn't help but be envious of him. Pasha would be the first to admit that he was a hopeless romantic and he liked Nahi. He didn't say this out loud of course. He was a somewhat bashful fellow despite being in his mid twenties.
“I've got a few friends around camp,” he replied idly, “No real close friends I'm afraid to say. I left camp a few months after I first got here and have been keeping to myself for the most part. I can't say that I have any enemies though either, which is good.” He gave a little smile again, he wasn't about to bring up Owen or Lita if he could help it. Part of him thought of Owen as an enemy, even though he probably shouldn't.
He dragged his feet a little as he walked. It wasn't as cold as he thought it was. It certainly wasn't warm but still, it wasn't as cold as it could have been.

"I expected as much. You seem like a very quiet person, Pasha. And you're too nice to have very many enemies, if any at all." Nahimana said, smiling back at Pasha. They soon reached a stream that seemed to have carved a deep, wide trench for itself. A tree had been cut down and stripped of its branches so that people could cross. Nahi jumped lightly on and began to walk carefully across, her eyes straight ahead. She jumped off at the end, turned, and waited for Pasha to cross behind her. Nahi was right at home in the forest. She'd grown up here, knew how to survive here. She wasn't sure what she would do if she were sent out to some city.

Pasha was happy to see Nahimana smile back at him. It made his heart flutter a little bit. It was nice to exchange little pleasantries with someone for a change. It certainly beat talk about the weather and activities of the animals that lived near by.
When the pair came to the log Pasha gave a little shake of his head. He could get across it, most likely, but it would not be done gracefully. Nahi had grown up doing this sort of thing, he had not. Whats more his lankiness made anything he did less than graceful. By the time the dark haired woman had made it across the trench Pasha had made it just a few steps onto the fallen tree. He gave her a quick little wave before going back to concentrating on crossing the log. He knew he must have been quiet a sight, arms outstretched as he carefully put one foot in front of the other, but that didn't really bother him. It took him a little longer to get across than it had taken Nahi to but he managed to do it with out falling. He wanted to say something witty or funny when he jumped down next to her but he couldn't really think of anything. Instead he just smiled again. He really needed to start thinking and talking. He was just acting like a child now.

Nahi waited patiently on the opposite end and watched as Pasha crossed. She kept having to remind herself that most humans did not grow up in the forest. Most humans had been slaves for the majority of their lives. When he jumped down beside her, Nahimana beamed. "Very good...I was afraid you'd fall. I brought a young girl along with me once, because she was so energetic, but too young to do anything like guard duty. The little thing fell, bless her heart!" That had been a few years ago, when Nahi was in her teenaged years and the Rebellion was still very young. That girl had gone on to do many brave things, Nahi had heard. But, like many great people, she was killed all too quickly.
Nahi turned and continued down the path, which suddenly seemed nonexistent. If Pasha paid attention, however, he might notice faded and worn scraps of cloth tied to a few branches and shrubs. They had been tied there years ago, before Nahimana knew the path by heart. Now she only glanced at them fondly and remembered tying them up as a young girl.

“I'm not a total clutz,” he smiled when she praised him. He felt that it was unnecessary to praise him for such a little thing like that. He noticed that she seemed perhaps a little bit sadder when she spoke of the girl. He held off asking questions though he was not one to pry into people's thoughts. It was not a kind thing to do.
They kept walking in relative silence. She seemed to know just where they are going, which was a good thing because the tall man knew that he would not have been able to find his way through the woods so quickly and easily. It took him a little bit to spot the markers that were on the trail. They were faded and looked very old, he figured that she was not using them. AT least she wasn't using them anymore, she probably had this trail memorized. He found that impressive, he had lived in these woods for a few years and he still didn't trust himself to stray far off the main trials. “You must come through here often,” he commented, “You seem to have everything memorized. That's better than I could ever hope of doing.”
He took another look around him. It was peaceful out here, evermore so than the places he went when he left camp. There was an element of serenity, it was nice and relaxing to be out here. The sun was starting to show itself and he couldn't help but smile and stare. “Look at that,” he half whispered to himself. He wasn't use to getting up in time to see to see the sun rise, he was after all a bit of a night owl and a late riser. He couldn't help but stop to watch the sun rise, the walk could hold on for a few moments he figured.

"Not very often. But I have a very good memory." Nahimana replied cheerfully. She noticed Pasha had stopped and heard him whisper something. Nahi turned to look at him, then noticed his eyes were upturned. Nahimana looked up at the sky. The sun had set it ablaze with color as it rose, trying to draw attention to itself to let the world know that it was fully awake now. Well, it had captured their attention. The few wisps that could be called clouds were tinged pink and orange, and the last of the black of night trembled against the horizon. This sort of thing never failed to capture her heart. A pretty sunrise, a lovely patch of flowers swaying in the breeze, a warm sunny day. It made her heart swell with happiness.
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" It seemed that Pasha usually didn't see sunrises. At least, not sunrises like these. So Nahi remained silent. This was special for Pasha. Who was she to ruin it with needless chatter?

“Very beautiful,” he replied after looking up for a few moments. It was truly lovely. The sky was simply brilliant to put it in simple terms. He loved the lovely colors the sun made as it's light hit the clouds. He wished that there was a way to keep the colors and put them on paper or something similar to that idea. He was no good with colors though and so he knew that he would just have to rely on his memory.
He was happy that Nahi didn't seem to mind waiting for him to look up and absorb the site. In fact she seemed to like looking up at the sky with him. Who wouldn't like watching such a brilliant sun rise though? Certain not someone who liked nature like she did.
He noticed the small flowers that were about them. Delicate little things, but pretty none the less. They seemed to mirror the colors that were in the sky. Being the hopeless romantic he was he strolled to the nearest one and plucked it. It was a pretty little thing with small little pedals. He waited for Nahi to look his way before he handed it to her and readied himself to follow after her once more. They were on a mission after all.

When Nahi looked at him, she was surprised to see the flower. They seemed to match the pink-orange color of the sky, and she took it with a stunned look in her eyes. Then, she smiled. Awww! Nahi had never really met anyone that would do things like that. Though at the moment she was glad her mother was not present. The woman seemed set on her finding a mate and having children. Thus she encouraged her daughter to jump at the chance of courtship. "Thank you Pasha." She wasn't sure where to put it, so she stuck it in her raven hair. Just like she did when she was a small child. Never mind that she knew this flower was really more of a weed. And if it was ingested it could be very poisonous. It was the thought that counted, right?
Without another word, Nahi continued on down the path. Suddenly the path seemed to vanish. Nahimana paused, then slid skillfully down a steep slope that let out into a very lush grove full of patches of many different plants and many different berry-bearing bushes. The healer walked over and set her basket down. It seemed that they'd arrived at their destination.
