Gidget walked up to the beach, her heavy backpack was filled with various odds and ends she had collected that day. Including but not limited to, an old hairdryer, some loose copper wire, a few nuts and bolts, and a discarded eggbeater. She hadn't planned on coming all the way out here, but it seemed her feet just wandered on their own. Well, now that she was here... She slipped out of her backpack and dropped on the ground. A large clang resulted that made her flinch. She looked around, but saw nobody coming. It was lucky that it wasn't beach season. She really didn't want to ask a lot of questions. Like 'Were are your parents?"..... She could remember it was a dark night, there had been a new moon out. Her parents were seated comfortably around a fire, she was playing with a doll. Then a knock came at the door. She shook her head to rid her mind of her dark memories and suddenly started racing toward the shore-line, an excited yip burst out of her as she stumbled and fell on all fours.
The young pup raced along the beach, not caring that her tee-shirt was getting wet sand on it. For the first time in a long time she felt free. She loved running on all fours. She knew some animals looked down on it, but how could they? Did they even know what it was like? To have so much control and have the wind whistle in your ears... it was heavenly. Seeing no one around she threw back her head and started barking. It was a high pitched happy sound, coming from a young creature who was just enjoying life. And after all her sorrow, could you really deny her that much?
