Description: A relatively bulky species, Joshua manages to keep himself at a sleek weight of a lean 125. At just 5'4, there are many that have a bigger mass and are taller than the sun bear. His coat, unlike other bears, is sleek and thinner than most bears but still provides protection, mostly due to his species origin in tropical Asia. He has a short two inch tail. He is colored a black-brown, with the exception of a freckled horse shoe over his chest, honey-hued, and and a similarly colored muzzle, fading into black just past his eyes. His eyes are a darker brown, seeming black by the contrasting fur rimming them.
Despite his size, he is not someone one would wish to pick a fight with, had they known anything about his breeding. Large paws are tipped with scythe like talons. Another thing about his breeding is his particularly loose skin. This allows him to turn in his skin and bit his attacker, making getting a hold on him very hard.
Personality:Joshua is a haunted man. He has, innerly, denounced his whole race but is smart enough not to mention it. He's most likely got a few screws loose, but no one can really blame him. He's overly kind, eager to help those who need it. He is also fiercely loyal. He tends to get over emotional and has a large soft spot for human children.
He wouldn't hesitate in killing another animal, if the slightest reason arose. It is that quality that would make him both a perfect and an unpredictable addition to the rebellion that he has yet to hear about.
Wardrobe: He wears shorts when in the presence of others, but likes to be nude in his own home due to his short tail being cramped in clothing. It is also to short to have a hole cut for it.
He has a small human child doll tied to a leather thong that was either around his neck or wrapped around his paw.
History: Joshua was a kind man, having a slave or two was good enough for him. He had a small house and a modest amount of cash. The sun bear was fairly happy where he was, farming enough food for him and the slaves he had at the time. He had inherited an older couple and had found no reason to upgrade until they both passed on.
He had bought his last pair out of pity. It was a young couple, clinging to each other in fear in a back alley market. They had been cheap and were easily trained with the kindness the sun bear gave to everyone, animal and human alike. Alecksander and Jezzibelle calmed quickly into the ease of his farm life. Jezzibelle proved to be a good cook and healer while Alecksander was a strapping young lad, good at hard labor and a adequate fisher. He also learned his master's favorite's quickly, often coming back from work with a jar of honey, fresh from the hive.
Joshua easily got used to his easy lifestyle, trusting his slaves enough to run errands for him. One night though, a slave pounded on his door, asking for sanctuary. The slave was lucky, he had chosen a good home, and Joshua took the poor soul in, hiding him in the basement when authorities came and allowed Jezzi to heal him. The sun bear helped him escape and soon found himself another leg in the run away slaves' journey to freedom. Many came from rather abusive homes and Joshua found himself further and further disgusted with his fellow slave owners. They came even as Jezzi proved that she wasn't barren, like Joshua had originally thought.
It was winter when the child was born, a little boy, Jacob, to join Jezzi and Aleck, along with their master in the little family. He grew knowing nothing but kindness, but that wouldn't last. It was a month before the child's birthday when the cops came and question the bear on his part in the disappearance in over 20 slaves over the years. In consequence, his slaves were taken and he was banned from owning another slave in the future.
Joshua had grown fond of his little human family and wouldn't let it end at that. Through a few slave sympathetic connections, he found that the couple had been sold and for some infraction or another had been flogged to death. The child, he learned, was at a training facility out on the outskirts of down.
It was a dark night when the bear broke in and made off with the small child clinging to his back. They both traveled for sometime, working his way around the land with the child in tow was rather easy, once they got out of the jurisdiction of the government of the land they had both been born and raised in.
They, however, were not free from danger. These new lands seemed almost law less. It was about a year into their travels when a fox, a coyote and a grizzly cornered them. Joshua was occupied with the grizzly when the coyote and fox killed and then ate his small companion. The grizzly brained Joshua with a rock that sent him reeling and joined his companions. They seemed to be feral by the way they ate, but Joshua didn't stick around to watch. He snagged his child's blood stained doll and carried it with him until her got to another town, where he tied it with leather and caught a bus to a big city type place, where horrors were expected.
