[glow=green,5,500]Have you noticed that some strange phrases and terms have meaning behind them or are used in certain contexts? We've decided to use this board to clarify those unknown concepts and words to you guys. If you think up any others, feel free to mention it!
**List is Alphabetized**
Captor
- An animal who owns more than three humans and uses the humans for profit in some shape or form. They are more often than not cruel to the humans they own, having little heart for the human race.
Feral

Giver's Day
- It is much like a combination of Thanksgiving and Christmas. This celebration is held in late winter when times are usually the harshest. The night before Giver's Day, is celebrated with a grand feast. The main course is usually some type of common freshwater fish like bream and trout. The sides include oyster, shrimp, and for those wealthy enough, lobster and crab. Traditionally, each family will bake a pie of their own recipe. When desert rolls around, everyone takes samples of all the pies. The days before Giver's Day, people will give presents. They give them indirectly. The idea is on the morning of Giver's day that everyone opens their presents together and try to guess who gave what to them. Some will go days not knowing, or even months, while most guess quite easily because the gifts represent the relationship between the giver and the "givee".
Note;; So that us in real life can keep track of it, Givers Day begins on December 4th, and lasts until December 30th.
Owner
- An Owner is an animal who has maybe one or two Humans. They tend to not be as strict and more than likely have Humans around for simple chores around the house. Owners also tend to be a bit lenient, occasionally allowing their Humans to learn skills such as reading and writing.
Person/People
- This does not refer to a Human. A person is either Human or Animal. It is a term both groups use intermingling. When a Human or Animal refers to a group as "their people" this could also mean both groups.
Rebellion
- The name of the group of escapees and bandits who dislike the government and are against the slavery of Humans. The Humans in it tend to be runaways, and the animals in the group are labeled despicable and disloyal by the government.
Rebel Sympathizers
- A term for the animals who respect the Rebellion and it's cause or quietly speaks for them.
Side-Traveler
- A side-traveler is a Human who is basically the single care-taker of an Animal. Elder Animals and Animals who often live alone will have a single Human. This Human will spend most of their life side by side with the Animal and will in some respects be considered a companion. A side-traveler could also act as a personal body guard or someone to help the Animal when it is incapable of doing simple things alone such as buying groceries.
Two-legger
-A nickname for a human most commonly used by Captors. When said, it shows great disrespect to the human.
Untamed
- Most common term for animals who walk on four legs. It is disgraceful. Also used double for the unbroken human.
Wipe-Out
-The Wipe-Out is the name of a series of mass murders of enslaved Humans ten years before. The Human numbers were growing and they were roughly getting close to outnumbering Animals themselves. Feeling threatened, a wealthy Animal by the name of Jacques Adena cited he would solve the problem himself if it boiled down to it. Him and several Captors during the time executed thousands and thousands of Humans in the week of the Wipe-Out. Bodies were piled high in the streets and later burned. The finale of the killings happened on October 20th. Twelve Humans, women and children included, were lined up in front of a crowd and shot to death. [/glow]
